The normalization project of Ciliwung River on Jalan Matraman Raya, Kampung Melayu Urban Village, Jatinegara Sub-District, East Jakarta, carried out by the Public Works Ministry is accelerated. Now, the completion has reached 75 percent.
We will add workers from currently 50 men to 70 men to speed up the construction of the concrete wall
According to Head of Public Works Ministry Ciliwung-Cisadane Flood Control Office (BBWSCC), Dardi, the riverside is being reinforced with concrete for as long as 120 meters, 5 meters high, and 3.5 meters wide. The concrete’s function is to prevent water from overflowing and inundating residents’ settlements.
“The project’s completion process has reached 75 percent. Hopefully everything could finish this mid November. We will add workers from currently 50 men to 70 men to speed up the construction of the concrete wall,” he stated, Sunday (11/2).
Dardi admitted that this project got delayed because of some constraints, including the remnants of building’s foundation debris that had been demolished were difficult to be cleaned. The foundation of the building was stuck in the ground too deep, thus heavy equipment was used to remove it.
